It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the organizer, who gave us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. Thank you too all the soldiers who fight to protect all of my rights. A special Thanks to my soldiers, three generations of our family has served in the military. Its taken guts, will, and determination. I go without seeing some of my family because they are off fighting the good fight, my family doesnt always get to come home for the peaceful night of sleep they have given to me. There is some in my family that dont get the opinion of coming home for the holidays and yet, while we think of you and wish you could be home with us, we are proud to know that you bravely wear the flag and our last name on a uniform to protect me.. I love you and I wish you could make it home for the holiday, yet Im proud because youre my family. And to the ones who are my friends, Im glad I have a friend in you. Thank you for your service. To the ones who have retired, Thank you for everything you fought for to give me today. I lived a blessed life because you gave everything up before I was even thought of.
