It is true to say that apart from a handful I cannot associate any of my childhood heroes with the post-97 manifestation known as the PRM and I do wish that they would cease attempting to set the standard for a resistance they have never supported anyway. The recent indignant condemnation of IRA Volunteers Brendan Hughes and Dolorus Price from careerist draft dodgers and wee lads to young to ever understand why Daddy was a coward voting SDLP when the war was on is based on the theory the leaders of the Brit administration require protection from the Brit administration. We know that as a load of oul balls because Gerry McGeogh, Martin Corey, Marian Price et al had no amnesty, Michael McKevitt is serving 20 years for Directing Terrorism while the TD for Louth drinks pints of porter unscathed. If Sinn Féin were that concerned by what has been recorded at the detriment of their leader and had any interest in former combatants and Ex-POWs they would sort out the criminal (sic) records preventing employment and would seek answers as to why their party who claim to have won the war could not secure an amnesty for on the runs or historic acts of war. The failure of Adams and McGuinness to negotiate an amnesty before surrendering the Army structure is not the fault of anyone outside that leadership. Brendan Hughes went to war against inhumanity and injustice in life and he continues to lead the battlefield in that war in death. Up the IRA.
