It is with a great deal of sadness and a tremendous sense of personal loss that I inform you of the passing of Duke Kennedy. Following a relatively brief illness, Duke was transferred to Alive Hospice on Wednesday and passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning. Duke was an alumni of Cumberland Heights and frequently shared his story of recovery with the patients and their families and for the past 17 years Duke has given selflessly of his time as the primary fund raiser for the Cumberland Heights Patient Assistance Fund. Duke’s devotion to Cumberland Heights and our patients, his ready smile, endless numbers of stories, and encyclopedic knowledge of sports will be sadly missed and his passing will leave a huge hole in the Cumberland Heights family. As Jay Perkins noted, “he was just one of those individuals that can’t be replaced.” A celebration of Duke’s life will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the West End Methodist Church with visitation preceding the service from 1:00 to 3:00 at the church in Reed Hall. obits.dignitymemorial/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=James-Kennedy&lc=6838&pid=172916482&mid=6169623 Jim Moore CEO, Cumberland Heights
