It is with a sad heart that I share that Julia Gilbert passed away last night, June 3rd, 2014. She was a wonderful woman full of compassion and a spirit like no other. Julia. Often inspired and encouraged me while dealing with both of my parents cancer related issues. Thank you Julia for giving of yourself at all times! Julia was an Active Member of JLEP for the past 25 years, and was even double placed this past year, despite her health complications. We are lucky to have known her and blessed to have had her as our friend. Before she passed, she was presented the Julia Gilbert Award. The Board of Directors, along with numerous League members, honored Julia with the inaugural award at her home on May 28, 2014. The Julia Gilbert Award will be presented annually at the May Installation by the Vice President of Membership and the Member-at-Large, who will select the recipient. The recipient will be chosen based upon the spirit and commitment Julia has shown throughout the years of her membership in JLEP, and also an unwavering love for the women and our mission....the spirit of Julia.
