It is with deep regret the Chiefs of the Center Moriches Fire Department announce the passing of Ex Chief and 57 year member Jack Kanas. Jack joined the Center Moriches Fire Department in 1957 and was assigned to Company Two. In 1969 Jack was elected to Chief of the Department for which he held for 3 years. In addition to his service with the Center Moriches Fire Department Jack also served his community as a Fire District Commissioner from 1989 to 1998. Viewing will be at the Wesche Funeral Home, 495 Main St, Center Moriches on Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Fire Department services will be held on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Ocean Ave Center Moriches on Thursday March 20th at 9:30am. The Chiefs, Officers and members of the Center Moriches Fire Department would like to extend our condolences to the Kanas family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
