It is with deep sadness that I announce the founder and President Emeritus of the East Bronx History Forum, Bill Twomey has passed away on June 20, 2014. The author of numerous books and articles on Bronx history, he possessed the skills needed to satisfy the casual reader’s curiosity while creating a starting point for many an intrepid Bronx researcher. From Port Morris, Throggs Neck, Wakefield or Kingsbridge, Bill knew the history of every Bronx neighborhood similar to how his mentor, John McNamara knew the origin of both old and new Bronx street names. For me, to have half of Bill’s intellectual base would certainly last the rest of my lifetime. I am certainly honored to have known Bill and will continue his legacy of exploring and learning about the history THE BRONX! Rest in peace. R. Vitacco
