It is with sincere regret that I announce the death of Blackberry (formerly RIM). Blackberry was born (founded) in 1984 to founder (parent) ML in Waterloo, Ontario Canada. After a period of financial success in the telecom industry, Blackberry faced, but did not survive fierce competition from Apple, Samsung and others. Blackberry was later diagnosed with reduced sales, reduced market share, significant staff cuts, falling stock price, unfavorable patent decisions, and other controversies. After an agonizing period, Blackberry was found dead at its headquarters in Waterloo Ontario, Canada on September 19, 2013. RIP Blackberry 1984-2013.
