It is with the heaviest of heart I write this post. My grandfather, the best man I know, fought his final battle yesterday. I have no words but yet, so many. He was a man of dignity, honor, service, & sacrifice. He let ABSOLUTELY NOTHING stand in his way. Not even communist soldiers while he escaped Slovakia with two babies in hand and my grandmother by his side. A man who taught me everything. Who showed me the importance of Faith, God, Slovak Heritage, freedom, honoring and understanding our veterans fight on and off the battlefield. My volunteerism and my passion for the veterans community is driven from him. He inspired me every single day and showed me the meaning of life, love, and family. It meant the world to him. He fought until the end. His last battle he still defeated as he now is side by side with my beautiful grandmother, whom he adored. Im so lucky to have had such a wonderful example of a man in my life who helped me understand the qualities to treasure in my future husband, Jake and the journey of life itself. Im so blessed Jake spent many times with him too, especially in the end. Grandpa couldnt wait to walk me down the aisle with his cane and my uncle carrying him, he joked lol...I know he will always be with me in spirit. His service and sacrifice will forever live on in me. Grandpa, I love you, I cant imagine the world without you. Our very special memories will forever be in my heart!! God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers Hug grandma and watch over us forever. I Love You. Your Alyseka
