It is with the heaviest of hearts that we need to let you know that Miss Ruby Doo crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge on Christmas Eve. We held off reporting this as we did not want this to effect anyones holiday as it was already pretty much ruining ours. Ruby had been doing well but seemed a little quiet on Tuesday. We introduced her to another dog & in the process of getting to active, she started having some difficulty breathing. She recovered okay. But by Wednesday morning her breathing had become much more labored & she was now running a fever. We took a chest xray which showed some abnormalities, although we were unable to get a diagnosis just from that. We took her to a local hospital where they were nice enough to do a quick ultrasound. Unfortunately this revealed a fairly large mass in her chest as well as some fluid. We had the option of tapping the fluid out & trying some medications but it would not have bought her a lot of time. We decided to let her go with the dignity she deserved, with her tail still wagging & giving us non stop kisses despite having trouble breathing. We only had her for 2 weeks but in that time she managed to make us fall in love with her. We will miss her immensely. Thank you all for your love & support of Ruby. Somehow I think she knew she had so many people out there who loved her.
