It is with the saddest of hearts that we share with you that our little boy Earl has passed through this life and onto the next. When Earl first came onto our radar as an abandoned, older dog in desperate need of a home I anticipated that he would be my dog. However, the moment he and my husband Derek locked eyes on each other the writing was on the wall. Earl was Dereks boy and Derek was Earls. It was a bromance for many years. Earl was the worst dog ever - he was never house trained- he bit everyone until his last tooth was removed due to age and then continued to gum everyone right up until he passed. He was kicked out of every grooming shop he ever walked into. He hated riding in a car and would scream his head off the whole time. Regardless of all these things and many, many, more - Derek thought the sun rose and set with his Earl friend and where ever Derek was you knew Earl was close behind. In the last year as age began to creep in and rear its ugly head I have watched my husband take care of him in a way that made me so proud that he was my husband. He loved and comforted him through the loss of his hearing and then the loss of his sight and mind and when the end came they were together as they should be and Earl left this world in the trusted arms of the man who saw beyond his naughty behavior and loved him with all of his heart. These two boys taught me that love transcends everything and that in the end its all that really matters. Please keep Derek in your thoughts as he grieves the loss of his beloved Earl. To Earl, I imagine your running through the grass looking at all there is to see and listening to all the sounds around. Dont worry about Daddy to much- I will take care of him until you both meet up on down the road.
