It is with very deep sadness and heavy hearts that Doug, Lori and I announce the passing of our father, John Oscar Naifeh. He passed away on Saturday (11/15/14) morning at 0610 from causes incident to dementia/alzheimers here in Idaho Falls with his family by his side. He celebrated his 80th birthday on 8/16. Thank you all for the warm birthday wishes and cards he received. To the people of Ft. Madison, IA a special thank you to all of you who walked through the doors of Naifehs meat market on Avenue G and on Avenue L. Our dad wanted everyone to always feel like they just walked into their home. Many of you touched not only dads life, but also the family and employees who worked there. For our family, it was always about the customer and making a difference in their day. It didnt matter that we had the best meat in town (You cant beat Johns meat!!!) and people came from Illinois and Missouri, I know they came in just to see our dad. He made everyone feel special and touched so many lives through his business and his contributions to the community. YMCA, John Naifeh Dodgers, Pen City Eagles, Tri-State Rodeo, Chamber of Commerce...the list goes on and on!! The list of his sayings will live with us forever! He truly was an icon in FM and I know the people of FM will always have a smile when they think of John Naifeh as will his kids knowing he had such an impact on the community. We appreciate all the postings we have yet to get through and would like people to leave a memory or a story in their comments. Please remember him and keep him in your hearts! Heaven is definitely having one heck of a celebration and probably throwing some dice and having a lot of fun! RIP Dad (1934-2014). Its not about the beginning or the end date, its about what YOU do within the dash mark!! Take the time to make a difference in someones life. Dont turn an eye and lend a hand always. Just a smile and a Hi is worth a million bucks and if it were our dad, a hug was not out of the question! We love you dad! God bless! The family will be having a memorial service in FM in late May or June with an obituary to be published in the Fort Madison Daily Democrat, Burlington Hawkeye and Sun City, AZ newspapers.
