It just occurred to me how much of the B:tVS television show was based on THE LOST BOYS. Sure, Joss went in his own direction in too many ways to call it fan fiction, but the vamp - out face? THE LOST BOYS did it first. The fictional town of Sunnydale, well change one letter and well have the real - life Sunnyvale; likewise Santa Carla vs Santa Clara -- and both Sunnyvale and Santa Clara are suburbs if San Jose. And if Spike isnt just a straightened-out David, then I dont know what. And Im pretty sure that Tony Head as Rupert Giles was selected because of his vague resemblance to Edward Herrmann as Max.
