It may be as far away from the cricket season as you can get, but there you go, weve hit our Nelson run. Lets defy superstition and neither hop round the entire run on one leg, nor indeed have the Gods of Sport smite us with ill fortune and calamity. After this week we are of course full steam ahead into the murky depths of midwinter dark and the befuddling whirl of Christmas, bloody Christmas. With this in mind, and the customary drop off in numbers over the next three weeks, no novelties this week. The SAME DAMN (EXCELLENT) ROUTE AGAIN. Lets just turn up, get changed and focused, find a nice rhythm and tear through the run like never before. Weve done running as exploration, running as pleasure, running as training. This time of year, a large part of it is also running for warmth. (Certain individuals excluded; you know who you are Max and Elena.) I expect some terrific running - last week you were running brilliantly and this week promises to be still and cold and ideal. The next few weeks will have some different and - dare I say it - experimental runs to get stuck in to. Should be a lot of fun. From next week my curmudgeon hat will probably come off too and so we perhaps wouldnt protest too loudly if mince pies and so on become strong features of our little running club. As ever, I bow and scrape to those putting themselves to the test in the theatre of the race; there were plenty of people taking on the Regents Park 10k last Sunday. (Paul, Anna, Rob, Jenny, Lizzie, whoever else... winners all.) As it happens, there is another 10k in the very same royal park this week if anyone feels like they missed out - or indeed if you want another go. Similar effusions to the champion souls of Friday evening, the fine men and women of the karaoke. Thanks again to everyone who came and took over the place. In almost unprecedented news, we also have a few white Runners Need t-shirts to distribute. Who knows when this will happen again? Not to be missed! There will be warm drinks on offer tomorrow my friends: lets not wimp out of this. Lets keep going. xx PS Fine work last Friday morning; a couple of weeks from midwinter and were as strong as we were in the dog days of summer. All it takes is getting up! Take charge of your legs and come along.
