It may seem like the wrong time of year for it, but colds and sinus infections can occur anytime. The American Academy of Pediatrics has released new guidelines to help with diagnosis and treatment of sinus infections, an occasional complication of a cold. The attached article explains how to tell the difference between the two. Even if it is a sinus infection, it may get better on its own, sparing you the cost and side effects of antibiotics, but should be treated if severe or worsening. And unfortunately antibiotics never help with colds, which are viral.
