It must be wonderful to see the world in the simplistic way some - TopicsExpress

It must be wonderful to see the world in the simplistic way some of the folks Ive been chatting with lately see it -- all black/white, good/evil. No real thinking about things, just draw a line and say this side is right and that side is wrong. For example, there is this little ditty from a recent conversation (and I only pick this one because it is recent and beautifully emblematic): I, unlike you, delineate the Palestinians into 2 groups: Hamas and the 45% of people who voted them into power... and then the other 55% who didnt vote for Hamas. 45% of the people ASKED for this war. I feel strongly for the 55% who didnt It benefits not only from simplicity of thought, but also from feigned equanimity. Wonderful! There is, however, a slight problem with this kind of analysis. Sometimes the chickens return to roost, the cows come home, the shoe goes onto the other foot (or drops, depending on the situation), and the table turns, as tables will do. In this case, that wonderful simplicity of thought was at the cost of remembering that the person expressing this thought lives in a country whose government has fairly recently brutally attacked two other countries under false pretenses, and all over the alleged actions of a group of so-called terrorists that were created by that very some government. The action in question was, of course, planes crashing into the two World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania -- and the alleged group responsible (created by the CIA to fight in Afghanistan for them) was the so-called Islamic terrorist group, al Qaeda. Now, leaving aside for the moment the gaping holes in the official story of that day (not the least of which is that if al Qaeda had indeed committed the act it would have been to make a political statement, which leaves one to wonder why the leader of that group, Osama bin Laden, immediately released a public statement in which he called the act of terror unconscionable), how does the above statement implying that 45% of Palestinians voting for Hamas asked for this war, and so presumably deserve to die along with their children, work out when applied to the US? At the moment, neither of the countries we attacked in the wake of 9/11 have the power to strike back at us...but what if they did? According to the above formula, this person would have to agree that the people who voted for George W. Bush would have ASKED for the attack on the US and deserve to die. In addition, since Obama has continued the aggression with drone attacks and keeping people held in Gitmo without ever even charging them with terrorist acts, everyone voting for Obama would probably also have asked for the attack and so should die. Even those who failed to vote could probably be held complicit in their silence, leaving only that very small number of people who voted for third-party candidates with relatively clean hands and not deserving of death (though a lot of them would probably die anyway -- but hell, this is war and war is hell). This is where the simplicity of thought becomes problematic. Not only does it fail to account for the possibility that one day the very formula you have blithely applied to others might be applied to you, too, it unintentionally reveals an aspect of personality that the speaker had likely wanted to keep hidden: racism. And as comforting as seeing the world in such a simplistic manner might be -- an idea memorialized in common sayings like ignorance is bliss -- it leaves one incapable of accurately analyzing anything about the world around them, and so leaving them completely without a defense against those whose aim is to manipulate others for their own gain. In other words, you might be happy but youre nothing more than cattle heading for the slaughter house. On the other hand, if you live in the US you at least have a shot at some choice fields to graze from before they eat you...so youve got that going for you. Some of the analysis this kind of thought will lead to miss out on are things like this: 1) Just like the CIA created al Qaeda to do their dirty work for them, there is strong evidence that Mossad (the name of the Israeli counterpart to the CIA, which bizarrely is not part of my browsers spelling dictionary) created Hamas to counter the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization). If that is the case, then it would not be out of the question to consider that Mossad is still connected to Hamas or, at least, certain members of Hamas and is directing their actions. And please, before you roll your eyes, can you take a moment to think about a single war in the 20th century that did not include exactly this situation that you can flame me with? Thanks! 2) If Hamas is actually smuggling a vast number of rockets into Gaza to fire at Israel -- and assuming this would be without anyone in Hamas being a Mossad agent -- we would assume that all of those rockets would require vehicular transportation. How is it that a country like Israel, with access to the worlds most sophisticated surveillance technology, would never be able to catch those vehicles traveling, then stopping for a prolonged period to unload their cargo? 3) Given the aforementioned sophisticated technology, which would include ground penetrating radar that can locate tunnel deep underground, as well as sonar that has been used to create maps of underground tunnels like those below the Great Pyramid, why have they not mapped the tunnel system and destroyed it? 4) If, has been reported, Hamas has been firing Grad and Katyusha rockets from Gaza, just how did they manage to get the launchers inside the Gaza borders? Both of these rockets are launched from large trucks that would be virtually impossible to smuggle through the narrow tunnels that Israel has publish pictures of, and certainly could never have been brought through the controlled borders of Gaza. The only rockets that could conceivably be smuggled into Gaza are the crude Qassams. The problem is, the Qassams are launched from a very portable system that isnt much more than a bit of pipe, which means that there would be no reason to hide these launchers in hospitals and schools. Any one using them could launch from wherever they like then run! 5) Even the Israeli Defense Prize winner and aeronautics expert Dr. Moti Shefer has called Iron Shield nonsense. To wit: “There is no missile in the world today able to intercept missiles or rockets. Iron Dome is a sound and light show that is intercepting only Israeli public opinion, and itself, of course. Actually, all the explosions you see in the sky are self explosions. No Iron Dome missile has ever collided with a single rocket. [...] The rockets announced as intercepted by Iron Dome either never reach the ground, or are virtual rockets invented and destroyed on the Iron Dom control computer. To this day, no one has ever seen an intercepted rocket fall to the ground.“ “What lands here is what’s launched. The parts we see on the ground are from Iron Dome itself. We’re shooting at ourselves, mainly virtually. According to Dr. Shefer, Iron Dome is a part of a broad conspiracy, in which two interested parties afraid of peace are participating: the defense industries and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.” The problem with the whole Israeli story is that when it is analyzed even a little bit it all falls apart. It just doesnt make sense. Add to this the undeniable fact that there is absolutely no benefit to Hamas to launch these rockets at Israel. Perhaps one could claim they are monsters who just want to kill Jews at any cost, even if it means endangering Palestinians -- but they cant even do that. These rockets are essentially useless for killing, a fact Hamas is well aware of, and only serve to give Israel a reason to attack. Looking at this the way a detective might look at it -- determining who has motive and opportunity for the attacks -- the finger only points directly at Israel. sott.net/article/283079-Israel-created-Hamas-to-split-Palestine joequinn.net/2014/07/23/telegenically-dead-palestinians/#more-969 OK, now let the flaming begin!
