It occurs to me that if Senator Ted Cruz, as the heir apparent chair of the Senate subcommittee on Science uses that position to block legitimate scientific inquiry vis a vis climate change research, then he could be in violation of the U.S. Constitution Article 1: Section 8 which mandates Congress to promote the sciences. We must have leadership within the scientific and academic community ready to make a federal court issue if and when Cruz, or any member of Congress, actively tries to abrogate responsibility to fulfill that Constitutional mandate.
