It pains me to tell you how many baseballs Ive bought this season. - TopicsExpress

It pains me to tell you how many baseballs Ive bought this season. It was six. Dozen. Six dozen. They are in the neighbors bushes and under my workbench and rolling around in the backseat of the car and some other clever places I’m not smart enough to crack. But as embarrassing as six dozen is, I feel as though it’s among the best money Ive ever spent. When I look upon the sweetest moments with my children I think I will always flashback to hiking in Maine with my oldest son and playing baseball with my two little boys in the summer of 2014. I know there will be more baseball; they are far from done. But it will never be this good again; it can’t be. It was too rich. The bond I made with Teddy and Alexander this summer is too strong. It can’t be improved upon all that much by more seasons of baseball. I loved this summer. Teddy told me that he couldn’t make up his mind which was better; the 16-inning Phillies game we went to, Christmas Eve, or the day Uncle Bob taught him to bat. It just so happens that Anne’s parents live less than an hour from Cooperstown, New York. So we made our pilgrimage to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. It was a little bit much for Teddy— he can’t read yet—but Alexander didnt want to leave. He couldn’t get enough. He studied the signature on a Babe Ruth autographed baseball to reproduce his own. Now the boys are obsessed with mathematical elimination—the end of baseball season. Soon the Phillies will be. But that’s okay. If any of you Phillies happen to be reading this, my boys enjoyed your wins and, yes, your losses this season as much as you must’ve enjoyed your own precious early days of the game. My family thanks you for that. The playoffs and the World Series are coming and thats a problem. It’s all night games and they start at 8:30 PM in our time zone. The television situation in our house is prehistoric and we have no way to record and watch the games later. I’m not sure how were going to handle this. I suppose for the price of six dozen baseballs I could remedy that situation but Im not going to go there. I just dont think that Apple TV is the answer. Like I said, it’s a problem. Last night I found one of our balls behind some flowerpots. It was an inexpensive T-ball baseball that had no defenses against the elements. It spent the season outside alone. I felt that it deserved some recognition so I took its picture. One day I will look back on Alexander’s own Babe Ruth ball and do my best to return to those wonderful summer evenings in the alley. #NX30, #forevermoments, #Imageloggers, #baseball, #baberuth
