It remains to be seen whether Snowden is a patriot or a traitor. - TopicsExpress

It remains to be seen whether Snowden is a patriot or a traitor. Either way, he is likely to be disappointed. Americans are not interested in what he is saying, or hearing that the "Patriot act" is window dressing for a much broader effort. They have no desire to learn that their intelligence services operate well beyond the law and the oversight of Congress. This was not created by George Bush - It has been this way for a long, long time. Americans want to hear about symbolism and stereotypes - "GW" and Barack Obama, Karl Rove and the great defenders of liberty in congress, Donald Belesario TV productions, and Michael Moore exposes. They want every thing in a nice little package with heroes, villains, good-guys and bad guys. The article below is a fair representation of the system in place - Remove from that any implication they give a damn whether the email is from an American or a member of Hezbollah, and you pretty much have it for -this- aspect of US intelligence activity.
