It saddens me that people become possessive about their holiday at this time of year. Every time I see a post related to The War on Christmas I realize this is a person who has no clue about the holiday season. Scholars agree that Christ was not born at this time of year and that the reason for choosing late December for Christmas was to take advantage of pagan celebrations of the Winter Solstice. Regardless, this time of year has become a time of giving family, hope, and joy. Whatever Christmas means to anyone it is a personal feeling that isnt owned by anyone else. The celebration and joy of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other cultural or religious practice is not about ownership. Beating your chest and saying this is my holiday, not yours tells me everything I need or want to know about that person and how they were raised.
