It saddens me to say the our dog Harley was humanely euthanized - TopicsExpress

It saddens me to say the our dog Harley was humanely euthanized earlier today. For the last two days Betsy and I knew something was wrong since he was not walking, eating, having trouble going to the bathroom and was in severe pain. Betsy took him to the vet this morning at 8am where they did tests and found a tumor in his spleen which swelled to roughly the size of a tennis ball, there was some internal bleeding as well. Surgery was an option but the veterinarian felt certain that since the tumor had been there for sometime it would most likely be cancerous due to his age and have spread to his liver therefore only giving him a couple of months to live. Within the past year Harley also started going blind and was about 70% blind. Early in his life he had a bout of seizures but they where controlled with medication until recently he began having mini seizures Weekly, then about a year ago he was diagnosed with Cushings disease. So after consulting with the veterinarian Betsy and I determined that having him euthanized would be the humane thing to do, Betsy and I were with him as he passed and we can only hope he felt comfort with us there. Harley was almost 13 years old, he has been with Betsy and I since we were dating. Harley had a big personality and a big bark. He always had to get in-between Betsy and I when we were sitting on the couch, hugging each other or sleeping in the bed he always wanted to be with us. The only other thing he loved to do was eat! We knew that this day was coming due to his declining health but I personally felt he would be around for a little while yet never did I think when I bought him this day would come. Coming home seeing his stuff really.....sucks I want him back, we will miss him severely!
