It seems fairly obvious to me that if there is a creator, and this creator is good, the world should not be in the state of ongoing horror which it occupies. Ask me what I would do if I were God, and unequivocally I would alleviate suffering for everyone, and so, probably, would you; and yet no God arrives with real practical help to this day, but still people insist, in spite of the dilemma, that his love is real. If people dont have an answer to the problem, it is because the obvious answer is that the loving god is merely a myth (and a clumsy one), but of course they cant admit this, and so cling to the absurd belief that we just dont understand; God works in mysterious ways, and all that tripe. It is too fearsome a challenge for them to rise to, and so they repeat the lie - god loves you, god loves you, god loves you - hoping it will magically become true. What do you know philosophically about the problem of suffering? What arguments occupy your thinking and the thinking of your opponents on this topic? Thanks for having me here.
