It seems like Facebook is dominated by November, I am thankful - TopicsExpress

It seems like Facebook is dominated by November, I am thankful posts. Last year I only posted once and this is what I wrote: --------------- I am thankful for Facebook. Almost 5 years ago, I packed up every possession and relocated over 700 miles from everyone and everything that I’ve ever known. Let me tell you, It.Is.Hard. But, somewhere deep inside yourself, you find a strength that you never knew you had and you become self-sufficient in ways you never thought possible and you start to slowly, painstakingly build a new life. Some friendships are graciously accepted and many others are tentatively rebuffed but you still find a way to keep on going. That’s where Facebook comes in. Because through times of isolation, I know I can come here and see something profound, pithy, poignant, naughty (oh, so naughty), intelligent, and funny. While Facebook is no substitute for being with you all in person, it is a much needed lifeline. For as much as I am thankful for Facebook, I am truly thankful for my family and friends. From the family I’ve known all my life to friends that I met here in Austin, you have all blessed my life in such a way that I am a better and stronger person. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. --------------- Oh what a difference a year makes. Last year, I describe how Facebook was my lifeline in solitude. This year its my lifeline in companionship - from keeping up with new friends far away to letting me know of dancing events around the city and country. When I wrote that post in 2013, I never in a million years thought that my life would be so drastically different. I am overwhelmed. I am so honored and thankful that each and every one of you are a part of my life. You make my world a better place - one in which I am an active participant and not a curios spectator. With deep love and gratitude to all of you, Michelle
