It seems so strange to not be ironing my first day of school outfit, checking the lunch menu for tomorrow, getting my coffee stuff and snacks together for comfort food storage at school, setting two alarm clocks for 5AM (what I like to refer to as the middle of the night) just in case I have forgotten how to get up that early, feeling nervous and excited about the first day that kids come back, and going to bed early knowing that it will be hard to sleep thinking about the new school year and what it has in store for us. I have been teaching full time for 19 years in various special places and now it is time for a new chapter.....my mommy chapter! I am so excited to have more time as a Mommy and also feel so blessed as I reflect back on so many teaching memories and lives that I have been so fortunate to be a part of - teachers and kiddos. God bless ALL of the teachers and students that begin a new school year.
