It seems that with Australian conscience being bombarded by cash - TopicsExpress

It seems that with Australian conscience being bombarded by cash for comment media, lobbying junk food investors, trusted health bodies with ulterior motives etc. all we can do is stay educated, speak loudly and walk the talk. By picking on Paleo life-stylers, they assumed they were simply picking on the little dogs. They didnt account for the tenacity of our fight. Theres a lot of lies being spouted off by media at the moment (ACA last night for example) as this fight heats up. Heres a couple of lies and half truths that get spouted with my responses: - Paleo HATES and VILIFIES the Heart Foundation. FALSE We HATE and VILIFY the Heart Foundations TICK program. Seriously, they demonise COCONUT and FREE-RANGE BUTTER while promoting CHOCOLATE MILK and PARTY PIES! We are fighting by petitioning to have the tick program disbanded or in the least, educate people on its falsehood. - Paleo is predominantly a HIGH PROTEIN (mostly RED meat)/LOW CARB diet which will cause cancer and other inflammatory issues. FALSE We recommend similar protein portions as is standard with current nutritional guidelines. This has become one of the biggest misconceptions about Paleo. As for carbs, while generally the carb intake among Paleo followers is RELATIVELY small (only compared to the standard Australian/American diet), it is ultimately dependent on the individuals needs. The TRUTH? A Paleo diet consists of a wealth of foods that can provide ALL of your MACRO AND MICRO-nutrient needs. We avoid processed foods full of additives like enhancers, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavourings and colourings etc. We avoid added sugar and limit our sugar intake overall. Were not scared of fat like coconut or the skin on our free-range chicken. Fish, fowl, leafy greens, mushrooms, fermented veges, coconut, turmeric, lamb, sweet potato, eggs, berries, ginger, pumpkin, shellfish, nuts, seeds... Does that sound unhealthy to you? Sign the petition in the link - its getting delivered next week.
