It seems, through doing a little research, that a lot of folks went into this picture expecting something different from what it was intended to be. If you approach it as the non-linear, psychological character study with thriller-heavy trimmings it truly is, however, you may find as I did last night, that TRAUMA (2004) is equal parts challenging, curious, and compelling. Fueled by a riveting lead turn from the sometimes overlooked, Colin Firth, this UK offering is a thinking mans film that thrives on performance and an ambigous ominousness. Also with, Mena Suvari, Naomie Harris, Tommy Flanagan, Brenda Fricker, Sean Harris, Martin Hancock, Alison Davis, and Kenneth Cranham as the investigating, Detective Constable Jackson.
