It should go without saying that its coming down pretty hard out there. Weve been receiving reports from across the island for flooding and according to weather reports the rain may last a few more hours. Okinawa remains in TCCOR-Storm Watch. That doesnt mean you cant take precautions for a higher TCCOR on your own accord. It is Typhoon Season, ensure your house is prepped for heavy rain and increased winds, secure your outside items, drive with caution if you have to drive. According to Dave Ornauer and the Pacific Storm Tracker, what were experiencing is whats called a monsoon depression. It doesnt meet tropical cyclone criteria and were not experiencing sustained 58-mph winds. Whats important at this point is to keep the misinformation and speculation to a minimum, folks who are new to the island dont need every expert sharing what they think may happen. We work with several agencies to try and bring you well-rounded information, but we dont always have updates available.
