It started snowing at 9:50 AM. The principal decided to send the kids home at noon. I left my classroom at 12:10 PM. I pulled in my driveway at 11:24 PM. Among some of my adventures were spending 3 hours to go less than 2 miles. The snow changed to ice as the afternoon wore into evening and the crush of the cars compacted it. No one can drive on ice but everyone can do better. And, people pulled into intersections, blocking traffic in every direction. It was a total gridlock for much of the trip home (which normally takes about 40 minutes.) People would stop on the ice and then get stuck and no one would go help push the car. No sand trucks any where Cobb County. Shame on you! I was on GA 120/Dallas Highway for a good 8 hours and never saw one. The hills were not sanded. The police did not stop to help. Once I got to Paulding County, Dallas Highway had been sanded; kudos to the PC road department for taking care of us. No school tomorrow. It was cancelled many many hours ago. The roads will continue to turn into sheets of ice overnight as the temperature continues to drop into the low teens. Its supposed to be very cold tomorrow too. Thank you Quik Trip for being open, with gas, a restroom, and food. I would never have made it home otherwise. Im headed for bed and turning off the alarm!
