It strikes me that while Im selling off Everything soap, I should - TopicsExpress

It strikes me that while Im selling off Everything soap, I should tell you WHY SOAP. First of all, you should understand that soap and detergent are two different things, chemically. SOAP has a dirt-loving molecular end (oh, dear, this is just going to sound dirty no matter how I put it) and a water-loving end. Ergo, it picks up the guck off your skin, and washes it off, rather than stripping you out. DETERGENT, chemically, decreases the surface tension bonds of water (ie, makes it wetter and therefore sort of thins out the guck to wash it off you--so to get all the grubby off, it has to be wicked strong. What does this mean on your body? Well, commercially speaking, most of the cleaning products we use are WAY too strong. I for one am perfectly ok with this when it comes to my kitchen floor. But not so much on my body-- because I suffer from what I call New England Dry Skin (ie, in winter if I use supermarket soap I peel like a snake and go through three vats of moisturizer a day. AND ITCH.) Thats because most of what we call soap in the supermarket is actually chemically DETERGENT. If you use SOAP--particularly if you have touchy skin--you will notice within a relatively short time--your moisturizer use is down, and so is your itching. Thats because SOAP takes off the bacteria, dirt, and extra oil, without stripping your skin. There you go!
