It sure was a fantastic morning and a historic one for Kanpur. Citizen Groups and Various Organizations doing spot-fixing in more than 300 places simultaneously all over the city! Tremendous. True भागीदारी - स्वच्छ कानपुर के लिये ...... And, I saw millionaires with a broom sweeping the road along with their staff members cleaning it all up. Not photo sessions. Purely driven by the passion for a cleaner Kanpur. And, there were experiences in cleanliness and spot-fixing of all types. Other than garbage collection and removal, I saw walls being painted. Saplings being planted. Illegal posters, hoardings and banners being removed. I saw an eighty years young lady (my respected Budhwar Auntie) leading a team of school children cleaning the road so thoroughly as if it was their backyard or lawn. Simply Superb. And, citizens from every segment of the society - industrialists, businessmen, govt employees, students, professionals, doing it together. Anil Vidyarthi could not motivate his club members to adopt a spot; so he decided to distribute refreshments to more than 100 school children; greatly appreciated by those hard working children. True peoples participation at its best. Not for a fun event, movie, theatre, concert or a sports event. All doing it for their city, they love.
