It took being exposed to violence for me to understand those who have been violated It took me being exposed to violent systems for me to understand the perpetual cycle of injury millions lived with It took me suffering debilitating injury to understand those with physical hardship All of the above filtered through privilege and education leaves me with responsibility The tough life experience flips disability on its head and all of it puts me in a unique position of ability If I dont do something of great value with all this I am irresponsible None of this means I am fearless. Sometimes I am terrified. But I am learning as a discipline to show no mercy to fear
