It was 11 degrees over here this morning. I know I know, its not THAT cold, but its cold enough. Youre reading all sorts of enticing status updates from different coffee shops about how your coffee is going to warm you up on this cold day, and you should DEFINITELY get off your couch to go get it. This hot coffee is going to be well worth the fight of leaving your cozy home. Im here to tell you the truth. You go to a drive thru to get your hot coffee, and assuming its already heated to about 160 degrees, which it might not be, its going to lose at least 50 degrees from the window to car transfer. Kidding, its probably still at an acceptable drinking temperature. FOR NOW. What happens next? Youre likely putting that already luke warm cup of joe into a bitter cold cup holder, taking off your gloves to find some money to pay your barista, and shivering so much you drop it all over the ground. After slipping on your tush and mumbling a few choice words under your breath, youre finally driving away with a -25 degree tubular brick of coffee. With whip. I think Im going to invent an espresso funnel station someday for when you drive up in the cold. No cups, no lids no problems. Youll just hook your face up to the end, push a few buttons, and enjoy a 10 second flow of a perfectly warm latté/Americano/mocha while Beethoven or Kenny G serenades you in the background. Afterwards, it will brush your teeth, take your vital signs, and read your daily horoscope. Moral of the story? Were closing at 2pm to install new countertops and finish up other renovations.
