It was 11 years ago today. I was in Boca Raton, FL when we first met. It was a rare weekend off the road with James Brown and I was looking for love. I went to the mall - isnt that where we go when were looking for companionship? Well, thats where I met her. She was standing there all by herself...away from the others. She looked a bit sad, anxious and lonely in that big old mall. And then our eyes met. Her big brown eyes...they were beautiful but sad. I approached and asked if I could take her for a walk. And thats when we both knew - this was a forever love. Do you know that kind of love? Weve been together now for 11 years! At each other s side. Through moves, job losses, money woes, family tragedies and dramas , and all of the good times, too. Shes been there every morning and every night...through joy and pain. And the Sunshine and rain. I love her more each day as we grow older together. Happy 12th birthday to my beautiful, sensitive and loving dog, Sunshine! She may have slowed down just a notch, but still has a zeal for life, love, a cool breeze and literally a place to lay in the sunshine. I love you :)
