It was 2011 when officers got the call from michelle jones. She told dispatch that her husband had shot her son and he had a gun and was now going to hurt her. When officers arrived they found Michelle and her son 19 year old Owen Ellis shot multiple times. Richard Jones was also found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. When detectives interviewed Jones days later in the hospital his memory of the incident was foggy. That fogginess was repeated in the courtroom when Jones reportedly told the judge he had no recollection of the murders. Ultimately Jones was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in the Utah State Prison.
