It was a friends mothers 90th birthday at the weekend, so I thought Id put together a compilation album of songs first sung in 1924. Turns out it was a terrific year for great tunes – The Man I Love, See See Rider, Lady Be Good, Fascinating Rhythm. Tea for Two, Ill See You In My Dreams, and more, all of which were later covered by wonderful artists, so the album ended up featuring Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Stephane Grappelli, Sarah Vaughan, Django Reinhardt, Peggy Lee, Artie Shaw and others. (None of THEM from 1924, except Sarah Vaughan). Are there ANY songs from 2014 that will be worth listening to in 90 years time? My favourite discovery was Alabamy Bound, performed by - Van Morrison and Lonnie Donegan, Wonderful. https://youtube/watch?v=ZUlqKKLLe5M
