It was a lot of fun last night getting to play onstage with some old friends for a great cause! These photos were taken by my cousin Beth who lives not too far away from Crossroads. These two are of myself and Mark Tornillo. Id met Mark for the first time when my club band called Anti opened for TT Quick when I was 16! For those of you who do not know he is now the singer in Accept! I got to play a few Priest songs, Metal of Honor from TT Quick and Highway Star from Deep Purple. It was beyond fun getting to play that solo along with Dave Dipietro! Dave is such an amazing player. The show was a charity concert for Rock Against Dystrophy. Although I didnt play songs with him my good friend Blitz from Overkill sang a few w the band. He has to be one of the greatest frontmen ever. I know people have their favorites but Id put Blitz up against them any-day! I went there with a childhood friend who used to roadie for my band back in the day. We were discussing just how cool the club scene was back then. How many amazing frontmen came out of it and the New York/Jersey scene. Dee Snider, Rhett Forrester and Guy Speranza from Riot(Rhett in the scene was actually the singer for a band called Rachel), Ray Gillen, Blitz, Mr. Tornillo, Zebra, Rob Zombie...any night of the week you would be able to catch such amazing bands here. Not a whole lot of glam...just kick ass singers and musicians. The Bassist last night was Scott From the band Prophet. They were a great progressive band that had some records out and were a staple in the scene. They had a video for a song called Everything you are that had some MTV play. The singer was a really good friend of mine named Dean Fasano. He has since passed away. Dean was incredible. I could go on and on about the bands and talent at that period of time. There were some that never had their day. One vocalist that stands out actually sang in my band Witchdoctor for a short period if time. His name was Jim Hosty. His band was called Split Sydney. Jim was a superstar that just never had his break. His voice sounded like Dave King from Fastway, he looked amazing and was an insanely good frontman. Thanks to everyone who invited me to be a part of the show last evening...good friends like Mark and tattoo Tony. It was also good to see Mr Eddie Trunk from That Metal Show. I knew he would never miss a Blitz or TT Quick moment if he was in town! Last evening brought back a lot of memories. Blitz came with One of the owners sons from the legendary Brooklyn club called LAmour. We were exchanging some stories about that iconic room and its ghosts! No venue on the planet had a heyday or a metal history like LAmour. It made me miss sweating onstage, turning the amp up and playing music in a small room with my friends! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Peace! Chris
