It was a magical afternoon at the Carseland Weir today. Originally, I intended to go to Weed Lake, but they were paving the road and all of the parking areas. I didnt know if I would get a storm or not at the weir; the sky looked a bit threatening in places. It turned out to be great for watching and for shooting. American White Pelicans, Double-crested Cormorants, and Ring-billed Gulls were there in significant numbers--especially, the gulls--at one time, there must have been more than 1,000 birds that suddenly took to the air. Im not sure which photos Ill post, but Ill start with one that filled my 6,000 x 4,000 pixel frame. All Ive done to prepare a posting is to reduce the pixel count to 1,600 pixels across. My photo shows a pelican landing near a small group of others at the right end of the weir.
