It was a really good day today. It was actually the first time on the ride that I had ridden completely alone and it was pretty nice to just be alone with the horses in the Mojave desert for the first half of the day. It was good to have a chance to really hear myself think and not see another living thing for as far as the eye could see. The desert is powerful and makes you take a good long look and I came away with a smile. Before this ride it has been quite awhile before I couldve said that honestly. Where does the long trail home end? It doesnt end at home, home is under the stars, its listening to a good story, its riding a good horse across the desert, its looking in the mirror and being happy. Home is simply wherever safety and happiness is but the trail goes on forever, the trail is just life and we ride it because we arent just alive but rather because we are living. We dont get up and ride because we have to, we get up and ride because we get to. We put down 20 miles today and tomorrow we get to do it again and we get to do it for the vets that are thinking twice about it and for those that never got a chance. I will continue to do it even though Im already home so tomorrow we ride!
