It was a very rewarding day to be the mayor of Columbus! I had the honor of swearing in a new firefighter and recognizing our 16 AmeriCorps volunteers who recruit and train volunteers for our communitys non-profit partners, as well as, our Senior Corps. aka foster grandparents. Then I attended the graduation ceremony for women who successfully completed a yearlong drug treatment program at Community Corrections called WRAP: Women Recovering with A Purpose, for female offenders with substance abuse problems. Amazing success stories of Court Services and Centerstone helping gals in our community overcome tough challenges and beat the odds. Last, the city council approved on first reading a much needed investment of $3.5 million to repair and repave our crumbling roads.
