It was a wonderful day! My spirit and heart is full, and renewed. I am thankful to our ancestors for leaving us such a great legacy to guide our people. After being on cultural hiatus for the last year, I was gently nudged by family both in this realm, and that of spirit to pick myself up and continue. I stepped into a new type of role today that was unexpected, and possibly unprecedented (?) but nevertheless an honour to fulfill. The ixantsila (coming of age) for Kyra was beautiful, but to be given the responsibility of partial oration was a challenge in itself. I am happy to see so many of our youth embracing the ancient ways of our people and learning the various roles necessary to conduct a collaborative undertaking. Special acknowledgement to Cassandra , Rebecca, Paul, Molina , and Neria for meeting the challenge. It was certainly an overwhelming eye opener to see how many of our loved ones we almost lost this past year - Charles , myself, Bob, Debbie, Ivan & Paul and to reflect and honour those loved ones we did lose. It was heartwarming to acknowledge those close family connections with our Joseph, Everson and Glendale relations. I am forever grateful for this day, and to all those that made it happen. Love and light to all, and the life breath we share.
