It was always an assumption of mine that dreams were influenced by the last thoughts you have before you sleep. But this hypothesis could be totally wrong. At around twenty past eleven last night my girlfriend woke from her sleep to complain about our toilet seat. It has been broke for a few months now and it’s got to the point that when you go to sit on it you slide across the base of the actual toilet. Chessington World of Adventures it ain’t. Sometimes it comes clean off and if you don’t have your wits about you you’ll find yourself on the floor with a bits of crap to clean up. I’m ashamed to admit that I don’t know how to fix our toilet, I’ve tried a few times but it always breaks. I didn’t dream about toilet seats but it kept me up longer than I would have really wanted. I got in early this morning because of the London Underground / RMT strike, which is another story altogether, but the long and short of it is that the bus was well busy and so many people were pressing the dinger to get off at one point I couldn’t think straight. Urgh! I got off earlier than even yesterday yet I still managed to get in before everyone else. Anyway, given the circumstances, I’ve allowed myself a few minutes to have a look on argos.co.uk for a new toilet seat. Argos sell 40 different toilet seats online and the Bemis Toilet Seat with Statite Fastening System (White) comes in at the most illustrious at £39.99. With 113 reviews the Bemis nearly has the retail equivalent of the holy grail – five stars. The one I have at the moment is a bit more colourful than plain white and but I’m thinking white might be alright. Because I only rent and I don’t want to invest too much into making my home nice or anything like that, ultimately it’s a waste of money, I decided not to spend nearly £40 on a toilet seat. Next on the list is the Slow Close Toilet Seat (White) which was the same price as the Bemis but half the price. It only has 48 reviews which averages out at three stars so I don’t know it that’s probably why it’s now half price but Im put off by a few colleagues who came into the office and began talking about their boring journeys into work. Hypderbolic words like Chaotic and Mental were flung about with utter abandon. Jesus. Nearing the end of what is deemed acceptable to research toilets during office hours, I came across the one I’d looking for, the Living Slow Close Easy Clean Toilet Seat (White) which seems to me as the MoR of toilet seats. Curiously it’s £19.98 but it has 192 reviews with an average of four stars. I’ve bookmarked it and will probably buy it in the physical shop around the corner at lunch.
