It was bound to happen, a friend asked me how Zeva compared to Buddy. Well now, other than the obvious, she is a she and he was a he, she has a lot of his traits. Recently she has taken up his old haunt at the corner of my bed. This allows her to look out the south window and see who is in the driveway. She is much harder to see though, with her black face and dark head versus Buddys clean white appearances. She also reminds me a lot of Buddy when she is on alert and looking away from me. That huge block head and those big tall ears. She is as large as Buddy was, but she eats much less. She also decorates the yard much less. That Buddy was a dog food recycling machine! Zeva is a much friendlier dog than Buddy was. Buddy was at the least, willing to guard his house. Zeva says come on in, the cash is in the desk, beer in the fridge and the combination to the gun safe is..... Zeva like Buddy is a great companion, I can take her anywhere. Unlike Buddy though, she seems to forget the come command until it suits her properly. She is getting much better though. Buddys coat appeared to be short and he did not mat up with hair. Zevas coat also appears short and she does not appear to mat up. Buddy had loads of dander, Zeva is pretty clean in that regard. Both of their coats just unload hair and undercoat when brushed. I brushed Sir and Zeva in the back yard today and it looks like we slaughtered a bunch of cottontails out there. When Buddy approached a stranger, he would drop his head, almost submissive, until he felt comfortable with the contact. Zeva is full of confidence, head up, in your face, full blown welcoming committee. Buddy was the class clown, always up for the game, no matter what the game might be. Zeva has priorities, she likes to play, but she would rather go check everything available out first. Buddy was a fluid runner, long easy strides, his body would get low to the ground for his height and he was very fast. Zeva is also very fast, but for her, it is all muscle. She has broad and powerful shoulders that pull about as hard as her rear quarters push. Buddy made long powerful strides with his rear legs. They both love attention and love people. Similar in many regards, but uniquely their own. One thing they for sure have in common..... smearing windows with their noses!
