It was easy to miss in FBI director Robert Mueller’s testimony - TopicsExpress

It was easy to miss in FBI director Robert Mueller’s testimony to the Senate this week, but he briefly acknowledged for the first time that the FBI is now using drones to conduct surveillance inside the United States. He didn’t seem to want to talk about it, but when asked point blank, he admitted that drones are used now to spy on people inside US borders, but he insisted that they’re seldom used, and they’re “very narrowly focused on particularized cases.” As for what guidelines are followed to protect our privacy from drones, Mueller said that’s something “worth of debate, and perhaps legislation down the road.” My question is this: why should be put off the debate on guidelines to protect our privacy to somewhere down the road if the drones are already hovering over the road?
