It was never about George Lazenby vs. Sean Connery, it was always - TopicsExpress

It was never about George Lazenby vs. Sean Connery, it was always about the story & the film - by far the best plotted and most human of Flemings 007 novels, the most focussed and literate of scripts (there are no gratuitous scenes in the whole film), some of the most iconic set pieces of the series, one of the strongest supporting casts assembled, a truly visionary director (the opening beach fight almost singlehandedly reinvented the editing of fight scenes), the most satisfying end sequence of any Bond film (copied by Sam Mendes in Skyfall, really badly), a lead who truly understood who & what Bond was...still the greatest Bond film, and George, youll always my James Bond. I have a signed & framed OHMSS poster and a photograph of my son with George in London. If the house burnt down, after the kids, thats what Id go back for.
