It was now 2009, Sipho was doing his final year. He was determine to complete his studies that year, he couldnt wait to start working and find his own independence. On that year his high school girl friend Christy was doing her first year in tertiary, her presence was exciting to Sipho, he broke up with all his other girl friends, he only focused on his studies and his love life. He spent most of his time with Christy and some on his studies, Christy was his soul mate (he thought), she was beautiful, deep into christianity and full of respect towards her boy friend. The two couples were Romeo and Juliet, bear in mind Sipho was Xhosa and Christy was Sotho. Sipho was sure that Christy was his future wife, they had so much in common beside their background and languages. Sipho would softly whisper Romeos words to Christy every time they were together I give up my name, Im no longer Romeo, just call me love then I will be new baptized he was indeed in love. Christy had almost every thing Sipho wanted in a woman beside the fact that she could speak Xhosa and she was quiet when Siphos Xhosa friends were around. It was on a Friday morning Sipho went to meet Mgebes son in town to get his food money. On his arrival he saw Mgebes son standing next to FNB atm with France (his work supervisor), he went straight to them mholo bhuti Morning Mr France they greeted him back, Mgebes son Sipho wait here with France Im going to draw money for you. While Sipho was waiting for Mgebes son to come back he realized that it was the opportunity for him to ask for part time job at mr Frances company. Sipho Mr France, Im doing my last year in mechanical engineering and I was wondering if you cant offer me a part time job just to get site exposure and know more about my field of study Mr France was thrilled about Siphos request because he could see that Sipho was very serious about what he was saying, he promised to come back to him after he had spoken with his manager mr Pfeffer. While the two were talking Mgebes son arrived and gave Sipho R100 for his grocery and left with France. On their way to work Mr France contacted Mr Pfeffer about Siphos request, Mr Pfeffer agreed on the idea and told France to tell Sipho he was more that welcome to work in his company. Mr France passed the news to Mgebes son so that he could tell Sipho, to his surprised Mgebes son knew nothing about any of that, he was a bit disappointed because Sipho didnt tell him or asked him first. Any way he shared the news with Sipho which were the best news that Sipho ever received that year! Every school holiday Sipho worked to make a little bit of pocket money until it was June that year when he completed his studies. It was now Sipho against the world, he applied for in service training in many companies, him and Christy would seat at computer lab till late our of the evening busy applying for his experiential training. Christy was very supportive, she stood by Siphos side in everything making sure that Sipho was ohk. One evening Christy and Sipho were busy enjoying themselves in Sipho room, the two love birds decided to make love to each other but Sipho did not have a condom that night but they did it any way. The love making was kind of saying good bye to tertiary life to Sipho and welcome to cooperate life. After a wonderful night Romeo and juliet (Sipho and Christy) packed Siphos clothes and that was a proper good bye to tertiary. Sipho decided to go back to Mr Pfeffer because he was not willing to stay at home while waiting for the calls from companies, he approached Mr Pfeffer, he told him that he wanted to work at his company since well he had completed his studies but Mr Pfeffer refused Sipho you are well educated now, please go and find a job in good companies and get a proper training Sipho was not disappointed with Mr Pfeffers response,he knew that he was telling the truth, that company was too small for him. He decided to go home and keep on applying until something happened. June 30 2009 Sipho was busy washing dishes at Mgebes son place when he received a call, caller: morning sir, are you Sipho Nono? Sipho yes thats me Madam you have applied for in service training in mechanical engineering; is that correct sir? Sipho had applied in many companies so he had no idea which company was it yes madam thats correct Caller please make sure you come for an interview at our Telkom offices in Ceturion in Gauteng tomorrow morning 08:00 Sipho excited thanks madam I will make sure I will do that Sira was excited about the interview, he contacted Mrs Van der westhuizen mom guess what?! Mrs Van der Westhuizen whats happening Sipho? Sipho I have an interview at telkom tomorrow morning! Mrs Van der Westhuizen wow! Congratulations Sipho I know you gonna make me proud!, dont worry about how you going to get there; I will send my son Jan early tomorrow morning to pick you up and take you to the interview Sipho thank you mom!(Hang up) He then decided to call Christy and share the good news, they were both excited, she went to Siphos house where she helped him to prepare for his first interview. The call made Sipho felt like he already got the job, he internally prayed while him and Christy were searching the internet for possible questions. Michael Jacksons song I believe I can fly was playing in his ears all he needed to do was just to dance. In the morning he left for an interview, he arrived in Centurion just on time. While sitting in the board room as nervous as he was he tried to make up some conversation with one of the girls who were there for an interview but that did not work because the girl was nervous too. It was now Sipho turn to go inside to be interviewed. Will Sipho touch the sky as he thought he would, well lets wait for the results.
