It would appear that a Dalgety Bay resident felt quite strongly about this years gala, apparently strongly enough to write to the Diary to offer criticism. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinion (free speech and all that), however as Treasurer of the Gala Committee for the last two years, I feel I need to address her point that she hopes funds are spent more wisely Firstly, we are not given a magic amount of money from somewhere to spend. Every penny that is spent by the gala team is raised and sourced by the gala team. We get a few grants and sponsors that dont even make a dent in the running costs. We have to fundraise all year round and offer businesses incentives (i.e. adverts) so that they sponsor us. Secondly, spending funds wisely! It costs £10,345 for the site funds alone. This is leisure centre hire, marquees, stage, first aid, insurance, table, chairs, radio/Pa system..... things we cannot run without. So if The Dalgety Bay Resident has a better knowledge of how we can spend the money more wisely then I would be glad to meet her.
