Items scheduled for the Tuesday, January 20, 2014, Barton County Commission agenda meeting: COUNTY CLERKS OFFICE: Request for Approval – Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes for 2014 – -Donna Zimmerman, County Clerk, will present a listing of Added / Abated / Escaped / Refunded Taxes for 2014. Orders for these actions are kept on file in the County Clerks Office. These are used to correct assessments and are requested by the County Appraiser’s Office or the County Clerk’s Office. RESOLUTION 2015-04: 2015 Tax Sale – Resolution 2015-04 authorizes certain tracts of real estate be sold for back taxes. This money is then distributed to the various taxing entities in the County. The Resolution also authorizes abstract work to be performed in preparation for the tax sale. 2015 TAX SALE: First American Title Company – As there are no other abstract companies in Barton County, Mr. Boeckman took the liberty of contacting First American Title Company reference abstracting services for the 2015 Tax Sale. First American Title Company is willing to provide the needed services at $70.00 per parcel. SOLID WASTE: SCS Aquaterra Proposal – Expansion of Permitted Airspace – The Barton County Landfill operates the Construction and Demolition (C&D) Landfill per Kansas Department of Health and Environment regulations. The C&D Landfill is close to filling all of its permitted airspace. SCS Aquaterra provided a cost estimate of $7,500.00 to provide KDHE with the required documents to obtain a conditional approval to expand the permitted airspace. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: Clara Barton Hospital Exercise – Ebola – Time to Prepare – Barton County Emergency Management conducted a tabletop exercise at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas, on January 7, 2015. This tabletop exercise allowed participants to discuss plans and utilize problem solving discussions concerning the Ebola Virus Disease. Participants included local hospitals, public health, emergency management, emergency medical services law enforcement and other local agencies. COUNTY ENGINEER: L and M Contractors – Change Order – In May, 2014, the Commission accepted a bid for the construction of certain box structures from L and M Contractors, Inc. It was recently determined that two additional rigid frame box structures needed to be replaced, one being located south of Odin on NE 130 Road and one on NW 80 Road in Walnut Township. L and M Contractors submitted a change order for the work, priced at $91,570.00. Monies are available in the Special Bridge Fund for this work. COUNTY SERVICES: Informational Update – Mr. Boeckman will provide the informational report of work completed during the last period.
