Its Friday and we are coming towards the weekends highlight again. For us its always weekend, or should we say work-days. In the industrialiced world; the weekend is a time for holidays and meetings. In rural areas, it seems as if every day could be more even. When something happens, then the people just get together; whether it is work day or weekend. We have already started our meetings here in Tongat, and the faithful flock is as enthusiastic as ever. Its a great gratitude that is shown among them. Tongat was the first town we came to; in Africa in 1991, at the time we went here and also to Malawi. The contact which became established and stabilized, has only become firmer over the years. Friendship and spiritual closeness is not a short termed event.. It is intended to last for ever and ever. Just think when we meet today. Under the circumstances our time is limited and perhaps hectic between friends, and we often distinguished a desire that this should have lasted longer. When I see the many friends that I greet; during and after the meetings, I realize that we can not always use much time in conversations with each person. But it is a life story behind every handshake, a story that perhaps should have been devoted to much more attention. Yet it ends only with this handshake. It is however something we got more time for as we move into Gods glorious dimentions. Then we get the time to share with each other the many details we missed in this hectic life. Then the famous Lack of time is gone forever. Here in Durban, there are several groups of believers. Bro. Albert Matimbe traveled here by bus, and has already been for some meetings in Durban in these days. At one place there is tent meetings. A brother we met last year in Zimbabwe; is pastor of one of these churches. He is currently having tent meetings in a poorer neighborhood in this city. Bro. Matimba wished strongly that we should spare a night and join one of these tent meetings. Yesterday it was planned that we could go there. It is always dependence of transport between locations, and many times it is larger distances than first thought. The pace here in Africa can also be different from home. Agreement for pickup and drop-off is very unpredictable. Yesterday, we should be at the meeting about Kl.18 30, but when the time was 19:00 we were still at home where we stay overnight, and the journey to Durban; where the meetings are held is over 90 kilometers away. We did not know about the distance then. Eventually, our friends from Durban came and brought us there together with Bro. Matimbe. The meeting was already in full swing. They had sung and praised the Lord for a long time. Since we were so late, they had called forth another preacher from Johannesburg to take the speech of the evening, and he was in full swing when we entered the tent for the meeting. In my speeches, I always encouraged people to be ready for action, and be ready at all times. Be it to speak for a preacher, a praise for the one who has it, or the operation of the gifts; for which the Lord has given such gifts. It does not mean one is used all the time, but it is certainly important to be ready. If we are not used, then it should not have to be hard feelings because of that. Then you can say to the Lord; Well Lord, I was here tonight, I was ready, but you did not need my service this time. You chose someone else tonight. Then we go happy on the road. Yesterday was such a night. The preaching was completed by this brother and my contribution was not needed at this time. But we were there. We support those whom the Lord is using; in prayer, and is grateful that he has wessels scattered throughout the earth who can take responsibility when they are called to the task, whatever it may be. It brews up to a great weekend here in Tongat and we rejoice with our friends. The next few days are not yet coordinated perfectly. But we must be in Johannesburg to departure on Tuesday night. We also have our friends in Johannesburg who want to have a bit of our time, so well see what may work out. God bless you all.
