Its Friday and while that might not mean quite as much to a retired fellow such as myself, I still enjoy Fridays and look forward to the weekends. You may recall that a while back I began modifying a Lionel OGradys Tavern. I took on the project because while I wanted a tavern at the end of the street in Maryville, I really was not all that crazy about the overall look of the structure and wanted my tavern to not look like every other tavern out there. So, I made a few modifications. I reworked the windows so that they were set into the brick walls, trimmed a little of the plastic from the two awning and trimmed away some more plastic so that the building would sit flush with the building next door. I also added a outdoor goose-neck lamp and a vent along the one visible side wall. On the roof I added a chimney, a roof access door, a HO water tank for fire suppression and some gravel (fine sand). After painting the structure a brick red and adding some mortar, I added some signage to insure folks could find the tavern despite its new look. There are a couple of final things I would eventually like to do to the building to include adding a partial interior and a pigeon coop as a roof detail as well (I havent forgotten Allison). Monday, I go back to work on the large city scene. I want to thank everyone for all the congratulations and pats on the back about the MARS being featured in the January Classic Toy Trains magazine. It has indeed been a wonderful experience and again I say thank you for helping me enjoy the moment. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Bo
