Its Monday, September 1st. Time for the monthly Wally Report. 9 pounds lost in August! I started last August 1st at 269. I weighed in at 260 this morning. Thats 73 pounds lost since last October 2nd. Almost three quarters of the way to my goal of losing 100 lbs before April of next year. Even more cool than losing 9 lbs, I rode my bike 502 miles! Holy cow I never thought I could do that in one month. 500 miles is half of the 1000 miles I rode all of last Summer! I honestly think Ive become addicted to my bike. I never drive my Jeep, I get cold sweats when I force myself to have a rest day. I need to see my friend Jerry Carpenter and signup for his addiction recovery classes. =:) For those interested, I am now on Stava. You can follow my bicycling escapades at strava/athletes/5119285 So a little history. Way back in 2003 I lost 60 lbs. The lowest I got was 259 when I was dehydrated right after playing some lunchtime hockey in the July heat. I am now essentially at the lowest weight Ive been since the early 90s. So its all new territory from here on out. There are so many little things about being thinner that I notice all the time. I can pull my socks all the way over my calves. I can sit on the ground with my knee at my chest. I can see parts of my body I havent seen since the Clinton administration. Life is really really good. Its a lot of hard work, but Ive come to love that hard work. Its not just riding the bike. Im pretty strict about my diet too. Last night I had a nightmare. I had a dream that I weighed 259 the day before my monthly report. Then I went to some social event where there were all kinds of desserts laid out before me. I resisted them all but for a small taste of chocolate cake. The small taste turned into a frantic chocolate cake binge which I justified by telling myself I would use the previous days low weight for my monthly report. Dont worry, Im strong and determined. Im going to finish this thing!
