Its Thursday and were enjoying our stay at Acorn. The food is amazing and they have the softest bread evah! Acorn works with local retailers who donate food that can no longer be served, and the results you ask? Some really yummy food, avocados and even ribs, yummmmm! After dinner its volleyball time! Its not as competitive as you think and all are welcome to play, you dont even have to know how to hit the ball. Acorn rules make it even more fun, hitting the ball with your head or foot is completely acceptable.. lol Its great to see a community doing things together that can reinforce working together for fun, without drinking... ;) Taking walks on their lush property is breathtaking, the garden is gorgeous and the goats are as sweet as they can be. And yes they have two little piglets who were not socialized at all and were terrorized, I am using that word loosely, at their previous home. Thats ok, you know me I love animals and now those little piggies like to lay down and have their bellies scratched... :) Yesterday we did a grad tour of LEF, Living Energy Farm, and I must say it is quite an amazing site. LEF is fossil free, so that means no cars or anything of the sort. Theyve worked extremely hard and have managed to build most of their buildings with scrap that they find, And yes even from a movie set, wow, very innovative and resourceful I must say. They do have two current buildings they are working on that they have purchased some raw materials and they are going to be beautiful! They are using straw bales for insulation, if you know me you know i love straw bale building, have passive solar, cross breezes, and will have a fan that pushes the hot air that rises to the top of the building to under the building where there are rocks, with the this constant circulation it heats the buildings during winter. Ingenious!
